Annual National Programme

The most important result of the NATO Foreign Ministerial on 2-3 December 2008 was the start of cooperation with Georgia within the framework of the Annual National Programme. The Annual National Programme is a mechanism of political and practical cooperation between the countries at the phase of Membership Action Plan (MAP) and the Alliance. Therefore, it was very important for Georgia to adopt this instrument of cooperation.

Without making a political decision on the MAP, Georgia received the necessary political and practical instrument for joining under this format. The Annual National Programme is a detailed list of reforms and various measures planned by Georgia for one year, the main goal of which is to bring the country closer to the Euro-Atlantic standards. The Alliance annually evaluates the implementation of the programme and discusses the results together with the Georgian side.
