October 28, 2019
On 28-29 October, a media school on Euro-Atlantic integration issues is being held for regional media within the framework of NATO Days 2019 at the Information Center on NATO and EU under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The media school was opened by Tamara Tsuleiskiri, the director of the Information Center on NATO and EU, Lia Gigauri, the Deputy Minister of State for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, and Mariusz Maszkiewicz , the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Georgia.
In her speech, Tamara Tsuleiskiri spoke about the important role of the media in Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration and highlighted the need to increase media representatives’ involvement and awareness in this regard. According to her, dialogue with the public about Georgia’s accession to NATO is especially important in the light of the ongoing anti-Western propaganda.
During two days, the participants heard reports on the goals and objectives of the North Atlantic Alliance, the achievements and challenges of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration, NATO-Georgia cooperation mechanisms, the role of communication for NATO and methods of combating against propaganda, the importance of public involvement in the process of Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration, cyber defence and NATO’s approaches in this regard.
