September 24, 2020

An awarding ceremony for the winners of the “Creative Summer” project was held at the NATO and EU Information Center. The winners were awarded by Tamara Tsuleiskiri, Director of the NATO and EU Information Center, Ruslan Abashidze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Lika Kvaratskhelia, Director of the Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Agency, and Anuki Areshidze, Creative Director of the Georgian brand “ANOUKI”.
“Creative Summer” is a joint project of the Information Center on NATO and EU under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Agency of the Republic of Abkhazia. As part of the competition, young people displaced from Abkhazia created literary sketches, essays and paintings on the topics: “I am European” and “Abkhazia of the Future”.
“It is very important for us to involve internally displaced youths in Georgia’s Western integration process and to provide them with extensive information about the European and Euro-Atlantic perspectives of Georgia, the benefits received from the integration process and the challenges facing the country. They should have the right perception that this process is for their security, for better education, healthcare, economic well-being and a bright future,” said Tamara Tsuleiskiri.
The winning work (prose, poetry, painting) will be published in the third issue of Ritsa magazine and the September issue of Ialkani magazine. Three winners of the essay competition were awarded symbolic prizes by the Information Centre on NATO and EU, including a visit to the occupation and art museums. Symbolic prizes were also awarded by the Agency of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs. The well-known Georgian brand “ANOUKI” selected the artwork that will be used in its collection.
